Chocolate Sheet Cake

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup butter

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1/8 tsp salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp milk

  • 1 box (1 lb) powdered sugar

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Combine butter, water, and cocoa in saucepan over medium heat. Heat until butter melts. Add sugar, flour, salt, eggs, baking soda, sour cream, and vanilla over low heat using a whisk and mix until combined

  2. Pour into cookie sheet that is one inch high (like a sheet cake)

  3. Bake at 350 for 20 min.

  4. When there is 5 min left on the cake baking, combine butter, cocoa, and milk in pan over heat and bring to boil.

  5. Take off heat and add to glass bowl.

  6. Add remaining frosting ingredients and mix with electric mixer.

  7. Spread frosting over hot cake and cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
